E.P.I.C. Sarasota is a ministry of First Church Sarasota, a United Methodist Church which was, in fact, the first church established in the village of Sarasota.
E.P.I.C. Sarasota is a gathering of of people with gifts for ministry and variety arts who choose to get together and grow their ministry through collaboration with others in the Sarasota/Manatee County areas of Florida.
Participating artists include magicians, puppeteers, ventriloquists, jugglers, balloon sculptors, circus-arts performers, and even some of the less-well-known but formerly-popular acts such as "chalk talk", "doodle drawing", "Troublewit", "Chapeaugraphy", flannel-boards, and other performing arts used to tell a story or to illustrate a Biblical idea. Gospel musicians and vocalists are also invited to join.
While specifically designed for artists of all denominations who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and savior and as the Son of God, we also welcome those who believe in the God of Abraham and who wish to honor and praise Him through their efforts, since this is what Christ Himself did during His ministry on earth.
We hope to hold in-person workshops, fellowship events, and public presentations when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we plan to gather via Zoom, working together to improve our performing and presentation skills and our ability to use our gifts as performers to bring the Word of God into our community.
The coordinator of E.P.I.C. is Woody Woodward, Assistant Pastor for Outreach at First Church.
